Am I already immune to COVID-19?

After 3 to 5 days after the appearance of symptoms, the human body begins to produce IgM-type antibodies, and subsequently also a large quantity of IgG antibodies. These antibodies protect you from further infection of this disease for months or even years.

In recognition of the fact that over 30% of the infected persons in the Czech Republic may be asymptomatic, the quantitative determination of antibodies represents a reliable method that will help you identify whether you have already been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and have been asymptomatic.

The presence of IgM antibodies indicates an acute phase the disease, while the presence of IgG antibodies shows that the test subject has already undergone the Covid-19 disease.

This test is not suitable for detecting the infection during the early or acute stages (the first days of the disease). During these periods, antibodies may not have formed to a sufficient extent and the test result hence need not be adequately conclusive.
